Mjölk is a shop in Toronto that represents designers from Scandinavia and Japan, from classic and current furniture to Japanese hand crafts, Mjölk reflects the pure aesthetic of the North.
“We specialize in Scandinavia because the north enthralls us. Soft, quiet snowy forests and streets in the winter. Glittery, blinding sunlight on colourful buildings during the summer. Fika (coffee break) at the Konditori, with a kaffe and Napoleon pastry in hand. Trolling the Helsinki open-air markets for treasures. Aalto building tours. S.O.S. (Smör Ost och Sill = butter, cheese and herring). Swedish style. Grass roofs. Hot dog streetside snacks. And of course, the Arctic. These are a few of our favourite things.”

Pictures of friday evening in Hallein, where the shops had been opened longer than usual. Had the best coffee at Cafe Salitri and free beers and food at the streets.

Vette Letters is a typography studio based on a houseboat in Amsterdam. The twosome, Donald & Donald, combines typo with food and offers workshops for everyone to create delicious fonts. I saw them speaking at TYPO BERLIN May 2011, exactly one year ago and got very inspired by their work. They created a typefont only existing of clouds for web 2.0 designers (because they love clouds, e.g. skype), several typefonts for food like the potato stamp font BINT and their font Brokken even made it’s ways into the corporate design of the NYC Taxis.

Yesterday there had been a Cycle Chique Book Party in Vienna, with the Author of the book and blog-owner Mikael Colville-Andersen who is a journalist, filmmaker, photographer and urban design consultant. His goal is to improve the quality of using bikes in the cities. He founded the urban design concept “Copenhagenization” in 2007 and his blog “Copenhagen Cycle Chic” was chosen among the top 10 fashion blogs by The Guardian.

What a lovely surprise I recieved from the Waldviertel, Austria – I got a package from Sonnentor this morning filled with wonderful tea, cocoa, spice-mixtures, and even more teas to try. THANK YOU Sonnentor! I cannot wait to taste them all and try the recipe-tips. The room smelled like a herbal garden as I pulled the Sonnentor-tape off the cardboard to open it.
The products are so authentic – from the inside and the outside – the sensitive selection of the ingredients are reflected in the detailed, hand-drawn illustrations of the package design. Every product has it’s own artwork, what makes them even more high-quality and unique as they already are.
The Würz dich um dich Welt Selection even got an award for Best New Bio Product 2012. It includes selected spices from Hungary, China, a BBQ Mix from the warm South, oriental coffee-spices, and also not to forget something very traditional from Austria: Witwe Boltes Brathendlgewürz or Sieglindes Erdäpfelgewürz. Doesn’t that smell like a colourful, sunny, delicious journey through the kitchens of undiscovered provinces in your mind? It does in mine!
If you also want to try the delicious and yummy products, you can do this for example in Salzburg’s Sonnentor Shop.

I used to take my pictures with the Canon Powershot G5 since 2002 – one of the top small cameras on the market at that time - and always had been happy with the pictures. Time went by and the age of the camera is now noticed in every button I push and focusing also takes too much time, what makes it harder and harder taking the most stunning snapshot. So I made a little update and got myself the Powershot G12, not the newest one but all I wanted was keeping stuck to my “G” model for a while, as I had always been happy with my old one. I think this definetly transforms my G5 into a worn retro camera Speaking about “worn”: do you see my suffering bag?

The inspiration for the Kiel James Patrick brand was brought on by years spent exploring vintage clothing stores, antique shops and friend’s attics in search of the age-old quality. I think this bracelett in the colours of the dutch flag is just made for me. Can you find a favorite?

I’m in need of a new bag in an urgent matter, because my old one – who had been transporting my stuff nearly everywhere the last year – now is hanging by a thread. I like bags which look like old schoolbags, and I usually like leather bags, but also go for leather imitation. I’ve already picked my three favorites, but I will wear my old bag until it really dies.

For the boys a well-designed bag for cycling to work is the Erik Messenger Bag from SANDQUIST, also seen at Grundtner & Söhne webshop.
